How can we request a return receipt for email we send?

To request a return or read receipt when composing a new message, replying to a message, or forwarding a message, click the "Options" menu and select "Request Read Receipt." Note that this feature is only functional when sending messages to other Zimbra users, and if the recipient has enabled the sending of read receipts.

To request a read receipt

  • Click the "Options" menu
  • Select "Request Read Receipt" from the drop down menu


To enable the sending of read receipts

  • Click on the "Preferences" tab
  • Click on "Mail" in the preferences menu box
  • Scroll the "Read Receipts" section of the mail window
  • Set the option to either "Always send a read receipt", or "Ask me".
  • Save your settings
